BIO
- Jody the Intimidator...
Over the years, there were a few times where Jody had to face
the chauvinism of her fellow male competitors, and even times
when that chauvinism turned into intimidation.
|
"I
was racing this kid pretty hard at Darlington one time
and I kinda banged into him a few times. It wasn't intentional
- we were racing pretty hard and I was trying to get
by him. He was holding me up."
"Well,
this guys father comes up to my father and said 'You
tell your son to keep his bumper off the back of my
kid's kart!' Well, my father tells him,'I'll be sure
to tell my DAUGHTER that.' Well, the guy's jaw just
dropped."
|
| "The
there was this time I raced on this dirt track. Everybody
knows my name in go-kart racing...but I didn't run dirt
much at all." |
|
"It
was like the second time I raced on this track, and I've got
guys banging into me during practice. Then when I'm in the
garage area talking to a track official, one kid comes up,
puts his shoulder into me and walks off, just trying to intimidate
me. That was really the worst. But I go to the track just
like they do. If I were there to prance around , it would
be a different story. But they know I'm there to race and
I'm serious."
She responded
to the intimidation in the best possible way. She won.
Jody has
proven that her talent is equal to anyone in the upper levels
of the sport. She has raced against many now well-known names
in the sport such as NASCAR Busch Grand National Driver Jason
Keller, who she defeated for the WKA junior light division
national title in 1986.
